£100,000 to help Front Street and Haxby

Plans to help increase visitor footfall in Front Street, Acomb and Haxby are set to get the green light next week.

Community groups in Acomb and Haxby could receive a share of £50k from City of York Council to provide immediate measures to help makeover their shopping areas.

A further £50k would be allocated to undertake a study exploring the long term trends in retail in these areas.

The draft Local Plan for York defines two secondary shopping areas in York on Front Street, Acomb and The Village, Haxby.  Residents, traders and community groups were asked for their ideas on ways to improve the shopping areas in 2017, which has since helped to identify a list of potential projects.
