Post Office on Wheels at Oaken Grove – Officially Opened Today by Haxby and Wigginton Councillors

Haxby and Wigginton's Liberal Democrat Councillors Andrew Hollyer, Richard Watson and Ian Cuthbertson have helped officially open the temporary Post Office at Oaken Grove Community Centre, which began serving residents at 9am this morning, Friday 3 October.
The self-contained Post Office is now delivering a wide range of postal and banking services to local people. This follows a joint effort by Haxby and Wigginton’s ward councillors and Haxby Town Council, who provided funding to Oaken Grove to host the temporary solution. The mobile branch will remain in place for up to six months, while work continues to secure a permanent home for a Post Office in the centre of Haxby.
Cllr Andrew Hollyer, Haxby & Wigginton said:
“Seeing the temporary Post Office open at Oaken Grove is a fantastic moment. From today, residents once again have access to a wide range of services they’ve been missing since the closure of the old branch earlier this year.”
Cllr Richard Watson, Haxby & Wigginton added:
“This is a big win for the community. The mobile branch will make bring back footfall to Haxby.”
Cllr Ian Cuthbertson, Haxby & Wigginton added:
“I’m delighted that the temporary Post Office is now in place and already serving our community. This is proof of what can be achieved when local councils and campaigners work together.”
The temporary Post Office was officially opened this morning by Haxby and Wigginton’s Liberal Democrat councillors and is now open to the public at Oaken Grove Community Centre.
The post office will be open Monday to Friday, 9am - 1pm and 1.30pm - 5pm.
