Haxby Village Morrisons to close - petition launched

Haxby and Wigginton's Lib Dem Councillors are fighting to save the Haxby Village Post Office after Morrisons announced the pending closure of the Morrison Daily store which hosts it. 

We understand Morrisons intend to move the post office to Oak Tree Lane, in the south of Haxby, but this area is not as accessible for the many local residents who currently use the facilities; it also has many other weaknesses such as vehicle access, parking space and not enough floor area. 

Councillor Andrew Hollyer said: "This closure is a blow to the store staff, residents and small businesses like my own, which depend on our local post office. 

“The village centre Morrisons must remain open until a new operator for the Post Office steps in.”
