Meet your Lib Dem candidates for Strensall Ward this May.
Danielle has worked in public services all her life, including roles at York Hospital and in community nursing. She now works at the Univiersity as part of the Security team. She has a passion for supporting people to be their best and champion their voice.
She has supported the Lib Dems for some time, with her husband who is a York Councillor.
She loves getting involved in community activities and is currently helping to fundraising for the Lord Mayor’s 3 local charities.
In her free time she enjoys country walks, visiting market towns and cooking meals for friends.
Tony is a retired Physics teacher who spent his entire 32 year working life at Huntington School, serving the young people of Strensall ward. He was also Head of Careers and in charge of all Higher Education matters.
A Yorkshireman born and bred, he has lived in Strensall for 24 years and was a councillor on Ryedale District Council for 9 years during the late 80s/early 90s. He joined Strensall Parish Council in 2015, becoming Chairman in 2016, a post he still holds.
Tony has been an extremely active campaigner in Strensall ward. He successfully opposed Green Belt development in Strensall, speaking at the public enquiry on Brecks Lane and assisting the residents of Earswick who successfully fought off a proposal for 2112 homes.
In his spare time, Tony is a member of the National Trust, Friends of the Earth, the RSPB and CAMRA, is a keen pub quizzer and enjoys driving his classic TVR sports car. He is a very active philatelist and a member of the Great Britain Philatelic Society. He played cricket for Sheriff Hutton for 18 years and was club Chairman for 16. He lives in Strensall with his son and 7 companion parrots.
