Stephen is currently chair of the Lib Dem council group at City of York Council. Stephen has lived in York, on Askham Lane, since 2003 when he moved to the city to take up a new job. He currently works for the NHS in a management role.

Since moving to York, Stephen has been involved in a number of campaigns locally, including the fight to save the Beckfield Lane tip from closure. He is committed to giving residents in the west of York a greater say in the decisions that affect residents' everyday lives, and would like to see the council spend its limited resources on the things that matter most to people.

In his spare time, Stephen enjoys playing and watching sports.

Stephen currently holds the position of Spokesperson for Transport & Planning

His spokesperson role covers: Civil Engineering and Highways, Parking Services and Parking Strategy, Transport Strategy, Highways Strategy, Taxi Licensing (in conjunction with Chair of Licensing), Digital Infrastructure, Regional and National Transport Infrastructure, Fleet Management, Planning Conservation and Urban Design, and Planning and Development Management.
