Today City of York Council have released a report, recommending they take no action on improving the ring road bridges between Rawcliffe and Poppleton/Manor School.
This comes after the scheme being labelled "Very High Priority" just this February, with a allocated budget of £120k to make improvements for pedestrians and cyclists along the busy route.
After months of delay, the Council have now said the scheme is "not viable" due to "practical engineering considerations of implementing civil construction works on the bridge".
Doing nothing means continued misery for local residents and school children, encouraging car use instead of walking and cycling along the currently dangerous, unlit route. The ward councillors for Rawcliffe & Clifton Without have now launched a petition, calling on the Council to do the right thing and improve this well used route for local residents.
We understand the A19/Shipton Road improvements are still being designed and the council will be running a consultation with residents soon on the plans.
