As part of the York Flood Alleviation Scheme (FAS), the Environment Agency is investing £21 million to improve flood defences in the Clifton Without and Rawcliffe area. This will provide a high standard of protection against future flooding, benefitting 135 homes and protecting local businesses as well. It will also reduce the risk of flood water spilling on to Shipton Road.

Another major new milestone has now been reached in the campaign for a new library to serve Rawcliffe & Clifton Without, with City of York Council unveiling plans for a new Library Learning Centre. As reported last year, the Council and Explore have been consulting on the location and facilities of a new library for our area. The consultation found 90% of residents were in favour of the move to the former Clifton Junior School on Rawcliffe Drive. The design retains the large main hall whilst demolishing the two wings of classrooms as they are in a poor condition. A new two storey extension will connect the two remaining parts.

City of York Council has started major road works at the junction of A19 Shipton Road / Park and Ride Access as part of the Traffic Signal Asset Renewal Programme. Works started on Monday 10th May and will last for 5 weeks.
Ward funding used to boost maths support for young people locally
Rawcliffe and Clifton Without councillors granted £2260 in ward committee funding to Maths Monkeys CIC, in order to offer free maths tuition to local school-age children.
Cliftonmoorgate Path Cleared
Cllr Sam Waudby was pleased to have cleared overgrowth on the pathway of Cliftonmoorgate after being contacted by residents requesting that it be cut back. The path is now double the width, so it's much safer to use and makes it easier to social distance while using the path.
