Meet your Lib Dem candidates for Rawcliffe & Clifton Without this May.

Darryl Smalley

Darryl lives in Clifton Without, and enjoys getting involved in the local community, from being an active member of Friends of Clifton Backies to volunteering as a snow warden.

He takes a keen interest in seeing local services delivered properly, for the benefit of residents. This passion has been long-held; aged sixteen Darryl successfully challenged the Conservatives running Lincolnshire County Council over their street light switch-off policy, gathering more than 4000 residents signatures in a petition.

In his spare time, Darryl enjoys cycling, travelling and playing squash.

Derek Wann

Derek has lived in Rawcliffe & Clifton Without ward since moving to York in 2013. He works at University of York in a research and teaching role in the Department of Chemistry.

Since arriving in York Derek has been very involved in local politics and community groups. He is a member of Clifton Without Parish Council and Chair of Friends of Clifton Backies Local Nature Reserve.

Derek is passionate about environmental issues and cares deeply about education at all levels. He believes that local government is a very powerful force for good and that getting the small things right can have a major effect on the quality of people's lives. If elected he looks forward to putting the residents of Rawcliffe & Clifton Without at the heart of decision making at City of York Council.

Sam Waudby

Sam has been an active member of the Rawcliffe & Clifton Without community for well over a decade. Both Sam's mother-in-law and husband, Mark, have served the ward as city councillors.

She worked in the care industry for 12 years and before moving to York was the manager of a residential home. Sam has also worked as a home carer looking after people in their own homes within the Rawcliffe and Clifton Without area.

Being disabled herself, Sam has a deep understanding of the issues affecting those with disabilities, and her main policy interests are social services, disability issues, public transport and leisure provision within the city.
