Strensall with Towthorpe Parish Council has decided to develop 2 areas of the village as wildflower meadows, partly for visual effect and to benefit pollinators, especially bees. If these are well received by residents, more areas could follow.
This project will need some preparation work, so if anyone is interested in helping, please either contact Cllr Tony Fisher or the Parish Clerk on 491569.
“City of York Council has a policy to develop more areas for pollinators”, said Councillor Tony Fisher. "It has just established a large meadow near where the new Community Woodland near Knapton is to be planted.”
The Parish Council is also starting a tree planting programme to replace some of the trees on its land that have been removed or died. Again, any volunteers who would like to assist the Parish Council would be most welcome, but this will need some training.
