A new play area is now open at School Lane, Fulford, thanks to funding from Fulford Parish Council and City of York Council.
The playing field at School Lane is now home to a wide range of new playing equipment for all to enjoy; including new climbing frames, a zip wire and smaller units for toddlers.
A total sum of £17,000 was funded by City of York Council to help support the development of the new playground, which was completed by Fulford Parish Council over three weeks during April.
Cllr Keith Aspden, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Fulford and Heslington, said:
“I am really pleased that Fulford Parish Council has been able to create such a fantastic playground in our local area, partly using £17,000 funding from City of York Council.”
“With the new equipment in place, many local families now have the chance to enjoy themselves in a high quality play area, and I would strongly encourage all local residents to get in touch with me if they have ideas of where future improvements should take place.”
Cllr Andrew Vevers, Fulford Parish Councillor, commented:
“We've been aware that our old equipment was nearing the end of its life, so it's been very gratifying to receive our grant of £17,000 from City of York Council, for which the Parish Council has been able to provide matched funding. Cllr Aspden worked hard to secure the grant for us, and it has come at a perfect time.”
“This has been an exciting project to work on, getting opinions from young people and older residents on what they wanted us to put in their new playground. We had many fine designs from play equipment companies and it was not an easy decision to make, but we feel the result from well respected company Kompan will serve the community well for many years to come.”
