More support this winter

Liberal Democrats on City of York Council have secured £150,000 to provide Free School Meals to beat hunger during school holidays, and a further £78,000 to fund community support schemes this winter.

Both funds are designed to help alleviate some of the financial pressures which some local residents are expected to experience after the furlough scheme and the £20 Universal Credit uplift ended in October.

Keith Aspden said: “Whilst this Government is choosing to cut lifeline support such as the Universal Credit uplift, York will ensure that the most vulnerable can receive the support they need.”
