Match Day Parking

Your Lib Dem Huntington and New Earswick Councillors continue to work for improvements to arrangements for supporters at matches at the Stadium and for residents inconvenienced by parking on their streets.

We urged that the Board agreed before covid should meet to look at what is happening. The Board has representatives from the Stadium management, FIRST buses and the Clubs. As a result of our requests the Board met this week and agreed a number of actions will be taken in the coming weeks. We will continue to monitor what is happening to ensure that the promised actions get the expected results.

Water Pumps

Residents in New Earswick who live alongside Westfield Beck have had worries recently when water levels are high.  Their concerns are that the water will overtop the sides of beck and reach the houses that are nearby.  There is already a pump in place installed by Yorkshire Water which is supposed to be triggered by high water levels so the water is pumped away.  However, it is unreliable and both residents and local councillors have had to ensure that Yorkshire Water come out quickly and get the pump going again.  It would seem that the best solution would be to replace it rather than having to keep repairing it, so that is what we will be pressing for.  Meanwhile, residents will still be keeping an eye on the situation and raising concerns when needed as an unreliable pump naturally causes anxiety.  There are several pumps in the ward owned and maintained by Yorkshire Water and they will all need replacing before long. We hope that will happen sooner rather than later.

Extra Houses in New Earswick.

Residents of both Huntington and New Earswick will be well aware of the recent applications by building companies to build more houses on both sides of the ward.  Each application is considered carefully by your local councillors and local people's views sought before any comments are made.
