The Liberal Democrats have selected local charity worker Emma Keef as their candidate for the forthcoming Holgate by-election
Lib Dems select candidate to contest Holgate by-election
Emma Keef works for a local York charity which supports unpaid carers in the city. Her career has involved working in community development including managing arts projects for those living with mental ill health; and in children’s services as a support worker at York’s Children’s Centres. Emma is also a Trustee for York’s Special Care Baby Unit.
Emma lives in Holgate with her husband and two young children and enjoys getting involved in the community through groups such as the Friends of Hob Moor and the Friends of St Paul’s Primary School.
The by-election was triggered by the unexpected resignation of former Labour councillor Sonja Crisp earlier this month. Holgate has only ever elected Labour or Liberal Democrat councillors.
Liberal Democrat candidate for Holgate Emma Keef said:
“I love living in York, and particularly Holgate, with its great parks and icons such as Hob Moor, Holgate Windmill and the National Railway Museum. It’s a lovely community with such friendly people, and active residents who work together to tackle issues.
“If elected I will continue the York Liberal Democrats’ strong record of protecting frontline services and I will be proud to represent Holgate in the council and ensure that the views of local residents are listened to.”
