Councillor for Heworth Without
Nigel has lived in Heworth all his life and is a former pupil of Hempland School. After completing his Masters degree he settled in Galtres Road in 2003. He has been a local campaigner since that time and was elected Councillor for Heworth Without in 2007.
In 2009 he was appointed as Executive Member for Leisure Culture and Social Inclusion. In his time as Executive Member he oversaw the deal to reopen the Barbican Centre, the launch of York Explore and resolved the funding issues for the new £10 million swimming pool at Hull Road.
His career since university has been in retail, especially online and he started his own limited company in 2007. Outside politics he is a keen cricket and football player and enjoys music, films, reading and long dog walks with his family.
