Jack McAteer is a scholarship student of Politics at the University of York. He has a particular interest in securing greater opportunities for disadvantaged communities.
Jack has been involved in many campaigns including; greater youth services, improving education and more community investment. Jack continues to work with the Naz Legacy and Patchwork Foundation to support young people to develop their leadership abilities.
Yorkshire Born, Jamie has lived and worked within the city for close to 20 years. Throughout that time he has volunteered for and supported a variety of different community groups such as the York Cares programme.
He believes in maximising value for money from limited local resources and making sure spending is on the things that matter most to people. He is also keen to improve the environment we live in, make York "cleaner, greener and smarter", and strongly opposes the recent application to build next to Askham Bog. He is also keen to make the Guildhall Ward a safer place to live in by establishing a Crime Prevention Fund and making more effort to tackle anti-social behaviour.
He passionately believes everyone should get a fair chance in life, and that jobs and the economy in York should be properly supported by maintaining our roads and helping the high street.
In his spare time he follows Rugby League and sings with the York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir.
Matthew has lived in York since 1999 and has worked as a software engineer.
He is looking forward to being elected to the City of York Council in order to make it a more transparent organisation that consults with residents.
Matthew is a keen runner, having completed a number of marathons and half-marathons
