Meet your Lib Dem candidates for Guildhall this May.
Emily is a student, originally from Essex, who is currently in her first year of her English language and linguistics degree at The University of York.
In Essex, Emily regularly assisted Colchester's Refugee Action group, speaking on behalf of her College's own refugee group various times, including at full council, and organising several cross-party events in order to draw attention from the local MP.
Alongside this, she has been an active member of Colchester Lib Dems since the start of 2017, campaigning in each year’s local elections to try and help the Lib Dems regain a local foothold.
Outside of politics, Emily is a keen cricket player, enjoys cycling and hiking alongside working in a local shop in the holidays.
Jack McAteer is a scholarship student of Politics at the University of York. He has a particular interest in securing greater opportunities for disadvantaged communities.
Jack has been involved in many campaigns including; greater youth services, improving education and more community investment. Jack continues to work with the Naz Legacy and Patchwork Foundation to support young people to develop their leadership abilities.
Yorkshire Born, Jamie has lived and worked within the city for close to 20 years. Throughout that time he has volunteered and supported different community groups such as the York Cares programme.
He believes in maximising value for money from local resources and making sure spending is on the things that matter most to people, as well as improving the environment we live in. He passionately believes everyone should get a fair chance in life.
In his spare time he follows Rugby League and sings with the York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir.
