Flooding Update

Heavy rainfall has caused river levels on the Ouse to rise.  As a result the Environment Agency (EA) has issued a flood warning on the river Ouse which the Viking Recorder currently says 2.8m. Rain coming from the Pennines is being monitored and, the EA are advising that the River Ouse levels to be 4.2m around midday/early afternoon tomorrow (21 February). The EA via the Viking Recorder suggests that the levels could be up to 5 metres but this is likely to change. The peak is expected on Tuesday (22 Feb).

In Fulford:

CYC’s pumps are ready for deployment at Germany Beck (affected when 4.2m). Flood pumps and defences (including the pedestrian bridge) are standing by to be deployed for the Fordlands Road and A19 area in Fulford. An important reminder of why our flood campaign meeting later in February is important! We have hundreds of amazing volunteers who have been helping throughout the pandemic. They're helping in many ways including delivering food or medicines, or being someone to talk to over the telephone or socially distanced.

Our community hubs continue to support York’s most vulnerable and medically shielded residents. They are working with community groups and our volunteers to:
• support the most vulnerable residents to deliver food
• deploy York's pool of volunteers where needed
• support people with collecting and delivering their prescriptions
