Cllr Keith Aspden, local councillor for Fulford and Heslington, has highlighted parking concerns on behalf of local residents, particularly on Main Street and Heslington Lane, Fulford.
On Main Street a number of DPD vans have been parking for long periods of time on both sides of the road causing obstructions and difficulty with access to local facilities including the pharmacy. There have also been improvements to the pedestrian crossing, including a new timer and road markings, which are being monitored.
Following a ballot of residents, the council can put additional parking restrictions, or a residents parking zone, into place but the importance of supporting local businesses in the area has also been raised. Therefore Keith has now written directly to DPD to raise these concerns and request action from the company. DPD have responded by writing to all drivers, including those who are contractors. If residents have any suggestions for parking solutions please get in touch with Keith who is passing these to the council and DPD.
