Meet your Lib Dem candidates for Clifton this May.


Tobie Abel

Tobie lives in Clifton and works as a software designer. Tobie initially moved to York after graduating in 2000, working at Aviva where he met his wife.

Tobie says: "York is a fantastic place to raise a family and it is a privilege to live in such an ancient and beautiful city".

Tobie is a governor at Clifton Green Primary School, and stood as a parliamentary candidate at the 2017 General Election.

Mark Waudby

Aged 50, Mark lives and works in Clifton. Having been involved in local politics for 35 years, he served as a City of York Councillor from 1999 to 2007. He also served on the former North Yorkshire Fire Authority as well as the City of York Council North West Planning committee.

Mark was a member of Rawcliffe Parish Council for 16 years and was a school governor for 8 years. Outside of politics Mark is married to Sam, and he works for Clifton Bingo and Social Club. In his spare time Mark enjoys local history and reading.
